Development of Addu Meedhoo Multi-Purpose Community Park
Funded through the 2021 CSO Grant from the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment
Project Overview
Recognizing the need for a public space that promotes health, wellbeing, and community interaction, Nalafehi Meedhoo launched the Addu Meedhoo Multi-Purpose Community Park project in 2021. Located near the popular Meedhoo Swimming Track area, the park is designed to offer diverse recreational facilities for all age groups.
Key Highlights
Phase 1

Relocated plants and levelled the ground for development.

Constructed two pavilions and two changing rooms.

Carried out landscaping works and planted new trees.

Phase 2 (Ongoing)

Installation of children’s play equipment.

Construction of a volleyball court.

Installation of outdoor showers next to the changing rooms

Importance and Benefits

Promoting Healthy Living: The park encourages physical activity, helping to prevent long-term illnesses linked to sedentary lifestyles.

Multi-Purpose Use: Supports sports, relaxation, and serves as a facility for swimmers using the Meedhoo Swimming Track.

Results (Phase 1 Completed)

Key infrastructure like pavilions, changing rooms, and landscaping were completed, making the park partially accessible to the public.

Ongoing efforts in Phase 2 aim to make the park a vibrant recreational hub in Addu Meedhoo.
